LYN House weekend mission experience

WHEN: Leaving Light and Life Church for LYN House at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, April 8th. We will return on Sunday, April 10th, at 1 p.m.

The LYN House is a Free Methodist Non-profit that ministers to the inner city students and their families. The LYN House strives to bulid transformative Christ-centered partnerships with neighbors through which economic, relational and spiritual poverty are alleviated. 


TRIP DETAILS

The chaperons will be me (Pastor Jeremy) and Michelle Eisenhart.

  • a pair of clothes for Church on Sunday morning
  • Bible
  • pad of paper

The Schedule:

  • Friday:
    • 5:15 PM- Leave for the LYN House (We will NOT eat dinner together. We will have an evening snack)
    • 5:45 - Arrive at the LYN House and unpack church van
    • 6:15 - LYN House executive director, Heidi Lyda, will give us a tour and share about their ministry
    • 7:30 - Play games with local children
    • 8:30 - Devotions and play board games in LYN House building
    • 10:30 - SLEEP (Girls upstairs, Boys downstairs)
  • Saturday (I am not 100% sure on the times)
    • 8:30 AM - Make and serve breakfast for the community
      • We will make breakfast casseroles (We need 4. If you would be willing to prepare one and give to us on Friday, we would greatly appreciate it. We will cook them on Saturday morning), pancakes, fruit and juice
    • 10:30 AM - Community Clean Up
      • Under the direction of Heidi and Pastor John David Van Valin
    • 1:00 PM - Lunch (Deli Sandwiches and chips and soda/water)
    • 2:00 PM - Community Experience: We will learn about the community, who lives their, their economics and how the Church is building relationships in the community.
    • 5:00 PM - Dinner: We will purchase our dinner at the local convenience store. Most near-east-side residents rely on the convenience store for the daily food supply. Each group of 4 will get $5 to work with. We will have a late night snack, too.
    • 6:30 PM- Play games with the local children
    • 8:00 PM - Play board games in the LYN House
    • 10:30 PM - Sleep
  • Sunday
    • 8:00 AM Showers
    • 8:30 AM Breakfast
    • 9:30 AM Sunday School 
    • 10:45 AM Worship at Indy First Free Methodist Church (http://www.indyfirstfmc.org/)
    • 12 PM - Load up van
    • 12:30 PM - Leave for Light and Life
    • 1:00 PM - Arrive at Light and Life

Several other things: This weekend missions experience is for 9-12th graders only. Please let Pastor Jeremy if your student can attend. (Only 10 students can go - so the first 10 to sign up go). Also, please let Pastor Jeremy know if you can make a breakfast casserole.
